Many people wonder what exactly is repurposing content? Is it simply posting the same thing everywhere? Let me tell you, it's much more than that. It's about taking a long form piece like a blog post or video and extracting key points. Quotes or statistics to create shorter attention grabbing snippets for social media.
It's about repackaging and shaping your content to cater to different platforms and audience preferences. So, the question is, [00:02:00] how do you do it?
First, you have to start with a long form piece of content. Long form, evergreen content refers to those in depth, comprehensive pieces that remain relevant and valuable over time.
It provides timeless information, insights, and solutions to the audience's pain points, making it a valuable asset for repurposing.
Think of a long form evergreen content as the foundation of your content strategy, it can take various forms, such as blog posts, guides, tutorials, or a video series, all of which dive deep into a specific topic by creating evergreen content. You're laying a solid groundwork for repurposing. You're ensuring that your hard work continues to yield results.
After its initial publication a couple of weeks ago, we started another episode discussing the importance of having a blog for your business.[00:03:00] If you haven't had a chance to check it out, I highly recommend you do so. It covers all the reasons why having a blog on your website is essential. And it serves as the perfect long form content to make everything we are going to talk about today work.
The second most common long form piece of content, you guessed it, You know how much I love to talk about video. I promise however scary you think it is to show up on video. It is one of the most beneficial things long form, evergreen content, either a blog post or a longer video can serve as a cornerstone for your content marketing efforts.
Let me know in the comments below what piece of long form content you already create for your business, or what do you plan to start creating now that you've got your long form content, we can transform that single piece into a minimum of five brand new and [00:04:00] fresh pieces of content. Let me show you how.
Let's kick things off with your blog post. It's a goldmine for generating a variety of content types. You can transform it into numerous social media posts and engaging email newsletter. A captivating video, a valuable ebook, an informative podcast episode, an interactive quiz, or even a comprehensive online course.
Today, though, we're going to focus on social media posts. I hear all the time about how people struggle with what to share or create on their social platforms. Fear not, we've got you covered on one long form gem like your blog post. You can put your content worries to rest.
Just introduce it to my good friend and soon to be yours ChatGPT and watch the magic happen as it helps you repurpose your content effortlessly. Here's the drill, simply paste your blog post into [00:05:00] ChatGPT and ask it to work it's magic. Request it to do the following number one, craft a captivating Facebook or insert LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram, whichever you prefer.
Host to link back to your blog article. Number two, create an engaging Instagram carousel post. Number three, whip up a snappy 30 second script for a reel. Number four, outline an eye catching infographic that visually represents your topic. And number five, create a series of Instagram stories that provide quick insights or highlights from your blog post.
You can take ChatGPT's answers and head over to another favorite tool of mine, Canva, to create some new graphics, or just start recording new videos from the script that ChatGPT already created for you. With ChatGPT's assistance, [00:06:00] you'll have a treasure trove of social media content. At your fingertips all from that single blog post say goodbye to content creator's block and hello to an abundance of fresh engaging content.

Now that we've outlined the art of transforming blog posts into five or more unique pieces of content, let's shift our focus to your long form video content. As I've mentioned before, diving into video creation is a must.
And your business should have a YouTube channel as a showcase for your products, services, expertise, and more.
In fact, we've dedicated entire episode to this topic. Check out why your business needs a YouTube channel to dive deeper. So assuming you already have a video in hand. Let's work our magic and generate five fresh content pieces from it. Just like your blog post, your video can undergo a similar transformation.
Not only can you repeat [00:08:00] the five steps that I have already outlined with your blog post and create five pieces of new content. But you can also take that longer video and break it down into several bite sized, short form videos. These can be used on your social media platforms, integrated into your emails, uploaded to your website, and more.
The possibilities are endless. My favorite tool for making that happen is Descript. Not only is Descript one of the easiest video editors I've come across in my many years, but its capabilities extend far beyond simple editing.
It can revolutionize the way you repurpose your long form videos with just a few clicks. You can effortlessly transform your lengthy videos into engaging short form clips. One of the standout features of Descript is its unique ability to edit directly from the video transcript, not just the traditional [00:09:00] timeline editing that most software offer.
Once you've uploaded your video to Descript and handled the basic editing task, such as removing gaps and correcting mistakes, you can easily pull out short clips to use as reels on social media. It's as straightforward as highlighting the sentences you want to use and saving them as a new composition or video within Descript. Inside that shorter video, you have the ability to choose from a variety of templates, allowing you to not only change the video's orientation, but add on screen captions from a wide variety of options and styles.
Then just download the new video and you have a reel to post to social media. What's even more exciting is that you can repeat this process as many times as you desire. In essence, you can take a single 12 minute video and effortlessly extract multiple shorter videos[00:10:00] ranging from 6 to 8 to even 12 pieces of engaging content.
Descript truly streamlines the art of content repurposing, making it a breeze. This is not sponsored by Descript, but I do have an affiliate link to try it for free for yourself. Also, let me know in the comments if you'd like to see a video where I guide you through my actual steps for creating these videos.
Plus, since Descript creates a transcript of your video, you can easily add that into ChatGPT and have it automatically compose a blog post, which then allows you to start the repurposing loop all over again.
So there you have it. We started with one long form piece of content and repurposed it into five or more new pieces of content. We turned one blog post into a Facebook post, Instagram carousel, 30 [00:11:00] second reel, an eye catching infographic, and a service of Instagram stories. Wow. Five plus pieces of content.
And then we took a video and created an additional five plus pieces of content from that. Then we took one longer video and turned it into five plus short form videos to use on your social channels, inside emails or on your website, leveraging tools such as ChatGPT and video editors like Descript can unlock a world of creative possibilities, allowing you to transform a single high quality long form piece into a multitude of fresh content formats. Say goodbye to the constant worry of what to share on social media and the uncertainty of how to promote your business. You now possess a well defined framework for generating five or more pieces of captivating [00:12:00] content from your cornerstone piece. Don't forget to check out my free training on ChatGPT. If you're looking for a starting point with this time saving tool, and if you're already creating videos, I highly recommend Descript as your go to choice for editing and repurposing content. It is truly a game changer.
